Experience Peyton came to the University of Minnesota from Virginia Commonwealth University where he was previously the Director of Life Skills and Community Outreach. Owens has been an NCAA facilitator at the 2005 Division I Leadership Conference in Chicago, an NCAA facilitator at the NCAA Leadership Conference in both 2005 and 2006 in Orlando and an NCAA Facilitator at the NCAA Division I Leadership Conference in 2004 in Atlanta. He is also a New Program Mentor and Advisory Board Team member for the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. Owens received the 2005 Outstanding Performance Award from Hopewell Public Schools in 2005. He has also worked with the National Youth Sports Program and with the National Consortium for Academics and Sports.
What you should know about Peyton Peyton is responsible for creating an atmosphere that emphasizes the primacy of personal and professional development for the collegiate student-athlete. His duties also include needs assessments, creation, planning, scheduling and evaluation for the overall CHAMPS/Life-Skills Program. Owens will coordinate all new student-athlete orientation programs, including those for international student-athletes; as well co-facilitate the freshman orientation course.
