McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week: Cat Parkhill
Each week, the McNamara Academic Center for Student-Athletes (MAC) will recognize one University of Minnesota student-athlete for his or her academic achievements. The winner of the McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 27th is Cat Parkhill from the women’s soccer team.
Soccer coach Mikki Denney Wright is proud of Cat’s academic achievements.
“Cat’s determination and commitment in the classroom is an example for all student athletes to follow,” Denney Wright said. “Cat is constantly seeking out greatness in every endeavor and she is motivated to be the very best both on the field and in the classroom.”
Academic Counselor Erin Swanson has been impressed by the effort that Parkhill has made in balancing athletics with academics.
“Cat has traveled to Spain and Chile for World Cup for the past two semesters,” Swanson stated. “Despite her extensive athletic commitments, she has kept the importance of her academics on the top of her priority list. She is a model student-athlete who understands the importance of achieving in all areas of her life.”
Parkhill is a freshman who has earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average during the fall semester. She is from Apple Valley and plans to apply to the Carlson School of Management.
