McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week: Brian Peterson
Each week, the McNamara Academic Center for Student-Athletes (MAC) will recognize one University of Minnesota student-athlete for his or her academic achievements. The winner of the McNamara Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 24th is Brian Peterson from the wrestling team.
Head wrestling coach J Robinson is pleased to see Brian’s hard work be recognized.
“Brian brings all the right things to his approach on his academics. He shows attention to detail, hard work and the ability to understand that what he is investing today will have great dividends later on in his life,” Robinson said. “I am continually amazed at the extra time Brian devotes to his studies to ensure that he is successful academically. He is one of the hardest workers on the team.”
Academic Counselor Robert Simon believes that Peterson demonstrates his dedication to excellence in all areas of his life.
“Since his arrival on campus in Fall 2007, Brian has demonstrated excellent study habits, a passion for getting involved and tremendous leadership,” Simon said. “He just received the honor of being selected as the lone representative from the University of Minnesota to the NCAA Leadership Conference.”
Peterson is a red-shirt sophomore from Michigan. In addition to earning Scholar-Athlete honors for having a 3.0 GPA each of his first three semesters, he has also been named to the Dean’s List twice. Peterson also is a participant in the Honors program.
