Student-athletes from Volleyball, Women's Swimming and Football read a book about not giving up that shared the life of Mia Hamm. Photo by Anissa Lightner.Alex Lacey (ROW), Emily Johnson (ROW), Kelly Schmidt (VB), Kelly Bowman (VB),Emily Brown (WTR), and Brianna Polus (WTR) visited Sky Oaks Elementary in Burnsville, Minnesota on Thursday, Feb. 23rd. The children at Sky Oaks were participating in a Read-a-thon. These student-athletes encouraged the children to keep reading and to meet their goals.

Photo by local photographer._right Sixteen Gopher student-athletes visited Red Rock Elementary in Woodbury on Friday, January 20th, 2006. The student-athletes were welcomed by the 6th grade student ambassadors who escorted them to the classrooms where they were going to be reading. The photo shows the student ambassadors and the Gopher student-athletes.

Student-athletes from Women's Track and Cross Country, Women's Golf, Women's Swimming, Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, Women's Hockey, Men's Baseball and Men's Track volunteered at Golden Lake Elementary in November. The student-athletes read to almost all of the classes at Golden Lake and emphasized the importance of staying in school and reading.
